During October and November, the L.E.A.D. council organized a highly successful coat drive. An impressive total of 440 coats were collected to help those in need during the cold fall and winter months. Gwynedd’s annual coat drive is a result of senior Ava Kolp’s hard work and is inspired by her “Gwynedd Gives Warmth” Lead4Change project. She created this project to benefit members of the community while incorporating the Critical Concern of Earth.

The Gwynedd Gives Warmth Coat Drive collaborates with the nonprofit organization, One Warm Coat. One Warm Coat helps to provide free coats to children and adults while promoting environmental sustainability. One Warm Coat keeps 1 million pounds of clothes out of landfills each year and focuses on the health of those who do not own a coat. Gwynedd Gives Warmth’s coat drive strives to do the same, which is why so many people donated their coats and helped make this drive so successful. Thanks to Ava, this coat drive benefits many families each year, and will only grow to be more impactful in the years to come.
